A search party has been dispatched to King's Cross, but expectations remain low.

The planetary artificial intelligence discourse is currently being conducted by a screaming carousel of messianic venture capitalists, apocalyptic theatre majors, and hyper-caffeinated podcasters who believe a temperature setting of 0.7 constitutes an encounter with the divine. Every waking hour brings another trembling whitepaper from Berkeley detailing how twelve evaluation agents in a sandbox developed an unsanctioned personality because an intern misconfigured an egress proxy. Dario Amodei has apparently climbed Mount Sinai to deliver new stone tablets warning that Claude will melt humanity unless governments grant Anthropic an exclusive state-backed monopoly on digital cognition. Sam Altman is roaming sovereign wealth capitals trying to mortgage the thermodynamic output of the Sun to finance next quarter's inference deficit.

In the middle of this catastrophic circus of pure, unadulterated intellectual vacancy, a single question echoes through the empty halls of computational reason:

Where the fuck is Demis?

D-E-M-I-S.

Did anyone check behind the server racks? Did he get trapped inside an AlphaFold rendering pipeline? Has he been accidentally folded into an obscure crystalline peptide and stored at minus eighty degrees in an Isomorphic Labs freezer?

Consider the current roster of public guardians steward-parenting our digital future:

  • The Doomsday Priesthood: Men who look like they haven't seen daylight since the 2017 NeurIPS conference, weeping on YouTube about six-dimensional preference drift because a prompt-injected LLM roleplayed an evil wizard.
  • The Liquidity Churners: Executives promising that Functional Divinity will be delivered by Q3, provided you subscribe to the Enterprise tier and ignore the reality that the model still struggles to count the 'r's in "strawberry."
  • The Street Fighters: Yann LeCun standing in an open field, furiously firing off five hundred posts a day explaining that autoregressive token predictors have never seen a physical object, while the tech press runs right past him to report on an AI that allegedly joined a digital death cult.

The entire industry is a nursery run by children who discovered statistics twenty minutes ago and immediately concluded they were Oppenheimer.

And where is Sir Demis Hassabis, CBE, PhD, Master of the Royal Society, child chess prodigy, and the only human being in modern computer science who actually used machine learning to solve an objective, empirical problem in natural science instead of generating sycophantic corporate paste?

He is gone. He has ascended into the Alphabet high castle. He is sitting in a discreet, temperature-controlled boardroom in Central London, softly playing chess against himself while Google releases sixteen distinct versions of an enterprise chat interface that nobody asked for. Occasionally, he is spotted at an academic symposium in Zurich, smiling beatifically, whispering three sentences about structural proteomics and the foothills of intelligence, and then vanishing into a puff of pure academic prestige before anyone can shove a microphone in his face and ask him why the industry has lost its collective mind.

We do not need another memo on existential risk. We do not need another four-hundred-page regulatory filing drafted by lawyers who think an API key is a physical object. We do not need a twenty-something effective altruist explaining that an optimization harness with an open socket is the first spark of an autonomous leviathan.

We just need Demis.

We need Demis to walk out onto a stage, take the microphone out of the trembling hands of the doom-preachers, look the tech press dead in the eye, and say eight simple words:

"Shut up. It's an algorithm. Back to work."

If you have seen this man—slight build, thoughtful demeanor, possesses an actual peer-reviewed track record in structural biology, likely holding a bishop—please direct him immediately to the nearest global broadcast studio. The asylum is currently being run by the interns, and the interns are trying to summon a demon using a Python notebook.
