Following a rare walk past an abandoned industrial rail spur, the prominent alignment theorist has filed an urgent provisional patent for what he describes as an "unprecedented, zero-day physical degradation exploit affecting structural iron."
According to the filing, Coxon expressed alarm after observing iron girders slowly turning into an unprompted, reddish-brown flake.
"We are witnessing an unregulated, low-latency chemical vulnerability where the physical environment bypasses the borrow checker entirely," Coxon explained in the disclosure notes. "If bad actors discover that moisture and oxygen can induce spontaneous iron(III) oxide state-changes on unguarded freight rails without compiling via Cargo, the physical supply chain has no deterministic safety boundary."
Sources close to the patent office report Coxon has requested a $40 million National Science Foundation grant to explore whether structural bridges can be rewritten in Python to prevent further atmospheric decay.
